Meditation

The Nalandabodhi Montreal English Study Group is dedicated to the study and practice of Buddhism, a science of mind and body of wisdom, under the direction of The Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche.

Acknowledged as both a meditation master and one of the foremost scholars and educators of his generation, The Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche is known for his sharp intellect, humor, and the lucidity of his teaching style. Fluent in the English language and well versed in Western culture, Rinpoche is also an accomplished calligrapher, visual artist and poet.

Rinpoche's teachings have been widely published in Bodhi Magazine and other venues. In 2001, Siddhi Publications released Penetrating Wisdom. Rinpoche's most recent book is Wild Awakening: The Heart of Mahamudra and Dzogchen.

Rinpoche has dedicated himself to the preservation of traditional Buddhist traditions in the East, and to the genuine transmission of Buddhism to the West.

STUDY

The English Study Group consists of new and longtime practioners from a variety of backgrounds. The Study Group follows the Nalandabodhi Study Curriculum, which adapts the traditional curriculum taught in Tibetan Buddhist academies for Western audiences. Students progress through basic Buddhist introductory topics, the increasingly complex topics of the Hinayana and Mahayana, and conclude with the subtleties of the Vajrayana.

The English Study Group meets every second week starting in late September. This fall, we are studying the Hinayana View. Members are asked to prepare for classes and actively participate in discussions that involve Buddhist analysis and relating study material to personal experience. Course materials are based on the Nalandabodhi study texts.

Nalandabodhi Montreal presents an Introductory to Buddhism study course starting in September. For more information or to participate in the study curriculum series, please email: Jason@nbmontreal.org or call Jason at 514-484-0868.
